Trainspotting star Francis Bourgeois teams up with petrolhead Chris Harris to restore a wrecked locomotive, built in 1961. De Ville Creations worked behind the scenes as consultant the engineers and unique vehicle builders that helped make this possible.

Finding the right locomotive for this ambitious project was no mean feat. Working at short notice we travelled the length and breadth of the country looking at perspective vehicles providing detailed feedback and advise to the production company that lead to the perfect build for the show.

With a very complex build facing the production team taking place over numerous months detail planning was required. We created a series of focussed documents that laid out key visual elements that enabled the episode structure to be formed.

Some seriously big and potentially dangerous equipment is required to be used when restoring a locomotive. We ensured the correct PPE, training, Risk assessment information and technical support was on hand at all times for both the crew and presenters whilst in the workshop.
A unique vehicle, "Wee Inver" was required allowing the presenters to demonstrate fundamental mechanical principles of a Diesel Electric, (Hybrid) Locomotive. We designed, built and got certified to run on the railway the perfect machine for the job.
