World’s Biggest Crash Test - Channel 4
This massively complex show over a year in the making, a feat of engineering brilliance. We were brought in as consultants to assist in the final outcomes deliverance, an eight car pileup with a lorry. This took split second timing as a result of rigorous calculations and testing which was undertaken by us on location. A high pressure experiment with only one opportunity to get it right.
Testing
There were many moving parts to this experiment that had to come together in the blink of an eye culminating in an unsuspected horrifyingly dramatic moment. We were brought in to make sure this happened. Rehearsing and timing the lorry move, testing surfaces, measuring and practicing skidding distances whilst monitoring vehicle moving speeds was just some of the work we undertook.
Perfect Timing
All of the testing we carried out allowed us to calculate the last second we could remotely drive the lorry across the highway causing the crash, ensuring that when it was time to roll the cameras it all came together perfectly.
