Blue Peter - BBC - Superhero Edition
What does it take to become a superhero and take on a larger than life mission. We work with Joel on his final Blue Peter Challenge helping him to achieve his ultimate quest to victory.
Design
The brief was simple, create a superhero device that will allow a Blue Peter Presenter to climb up the outside of the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. This is our original design sketch.
Prototype/Build
Once the design had been agreed the devices were built using the latest CAD/CAM processes in our workshop to create a gadget that looked like the real superhero deal!
Test
Would they work? Rigorous testing was carried out with the rope safety team ensuring everything worked exactly as it should. From this we were able make small changes ensuring the ergonomic comfort of the gadgets was maximised.
Filming
Could he pull it off and would the gadgets work and save the day? He's a superhero of course he could. Joel successful used the devices keeping him stuck to the side of the tower climbing over 100 metres to the top.
